Shivam Dube has often been compared to India’s premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya, but the Mumbai-born cricketer is quick to emphasise the respect and admiration he holds for his teammate. Speaking at a press conference after India’s commanding win over the UAE, Dube said, “Hardik Pandya is like my brother. There is no comparison with him. I always keep learning from his advice and insights.”India made a surprising call in their playing XI by opting for an extra batting all-rounder, leaving out pacer Arshdeep Singh. The move added depth to the batting order, extending it up to number eight, and gave Shivam a chance to contribute with both bat and ball.

The comparison between Dube and Pandya is common given their roles in the team, but Shivam’s words underline the respect and learning that comes from sharing the field with one of India’s best all-rounders. Rather than rivalry, there is a clear sense of mentorship and camaraderie, which is reflected in Shivam’s calm and intelligent approach on the field.
