
India captain Suryakumar Yadav avoided the customary handshake with his Pakistan counterpart Salman Ali Agha during the toss of the big-ticket Asia Cup 2025 match in Dubai on Sunday, September 14. The two captains stood beside each other when Ravi Shastri presented the toss, but they decided against shaking hands.

According to The Indian Express, Suryakumar Yadav had told the team management hours before the toss that he would not engage in the customary routine with the Pakistan captain at the toss. He also told the rest of his teammates that's it up to them whether or not to shake hands with the Pakistan players.
Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat in the Group A match on Sunday, seizing an early advantage on what appeared to be a dry, spin-friendly pitch.
