India's Smriti Mandhana has shattered the record for the fastest hundred ever hit by an Indian in ODI cricket history. With a 50-ball hundred against Australia on Sunday, September 20, Mandhana now holds the record for the fastest century in both women's and men's divisions combined. The left-hander went past Virat Kohli, who had held the record for more than a decade, having scored a 52-ball hundred against Australia way back in 2012/13 season.
Playing the final game of the 3-match series, where India were chasing a record target of 413 runs, Mandhana decided to raise her level and slam the fastest hundred hit by an Indian in the history of ODIs. The left-hander smashed a century in just 50 balls against Australia, with a massive six through the leg side. With the hit over midwicket, she broke the record of Virat Kohli, who had hit his hundred against Australia at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur.
On Saturday, Mandhana reached the milestone with a massive six, completing her century in just 50 balls. She was the record holder in the women's ODI format for India before this, and shattered that by a margin of 20 balls. Earlier, she had hit a hundred in just 70 balls against Ireland in Rajkot.

Mandhana's century on Sunday was also the second-fastest hundred in the history of women's ODIs. Her 50-ball hundred is only behind Meg Lanning's 45-ball century against New Zealand, a record that has remained since the 2012/13 season.
Playing at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Mandhana's knock came when India were chasing a record total of 413 runs. Mandhana and captain Harmanpreet Kaur combined to put up an incredible partnership against Australia, after the wickets of Pratika Rawal and Harleen Deol.
