The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league during the 2025-26 season, joining a growing trend among state associations.
According to Anil Patel, secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, the decision has been made, as confirmed to Cricbuzz. However, the association is still in the process of determining a suitable window for the tournament. Further details, such as the number of participating teams, are yet to be finalized.
The proliferation of domestic T20 leagues across India has created valuable opportunities for IPL franchises to scout emerging talent. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have all proven successful in providing a platform for local players to gain recognition and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
